Location

The rooms of the Electric Power Engineering Section are on the 9th floor in the tower, Appelstraße 9A.

Arrival by Train

You have arrived at Hanover Main Station and want to reach the institute by public  transportation. Go down to the subway station 'Hauptbahnhof' and take line 1 (Laatzen or Sarstedt), line 2 (Rethen), line 3 (Wettbergen), line 7 (Wettbergen), line 8 (Messegelände) or line 9 (Empelde) and go one stop to 'Kröpcke'. [You can also walk the five-minute distance to 'Kröpke' on foot across the Ernst-August-Platz towards the city centre]. 

At 'Kröpke' take line 4 (Garbsen) or line 5 (Stöcken) and go 4 stops to 'Schneiderberg'.

When you get out, cross the traffic light and go straight. Now take the next turn on the left. After 150 m you can see a tower. You can find the Institute of Electric Power Systems on the 9th floor of the tower.

Arrival by Plain

The Hanover Airport has a good connection to the public transport system. You can reach Hanover Main Station with the S-Bahn line 5 (goes every 30 minutes). Please read the directions given above to find out how to get to the institute from Hanover Main Station.

Arrival by Car

Coming from North

Coming from north (Hamburg) you take the highway A7 that goes to Hanvoer. The highway A27 from Bremen turns into the A7 at Walsrode.

  • As soon as you reach the highway junction 'Hannover-Nord' change to the A352 that goes to Dortmund.

  • In case you have missed the interchange, drive on for 20km until you reach the highway junction 'Hannover-Kirchhorst'. Then stick to the direction of Dortmund.

  • In any case you will reach the highway junction 'Hannover-West'. About one kilometer further take the exit 'Hannover Herrenhausen'.

  • Take the national road B6 to the city center.

  • After a long way without any traffic lights you will find another highway exit. Stay on the national road.

  • At the next traffic light keep left and turn onto Bremer Damm.

  • At the next traffic light turn left again.

  • You are on Nienburger Straße. Take the direction out of town and drive past Welfenschloß, the main building of the university.

  • Turn right at the next traffic light.

  • Keep driving until you reach a big parking lot in front of the tower building.

Coming from East

Coming from east (Braunschweig, Berlin), you take the highway A2 that goes to Hanover.

  • About one kilometer past the highway junction 'Hannover-West' take the exit 'Hannover Herrenhausen'.

  • Take the national road B6 to the city center.

  • After a long way without any traffic lights you will find another highway exit. Stay on the national road.

  • At the next traffic light keep left and turn onto Bremer Damm.

  • Turn left again at the next traffic light.

  • You are on Nienburger Straße now. Take the direction out of town and drive past Welfenschloß, the main building of the university.

  • Turn right at the next traffic light.

  • Keep driving until you reach a big parking lot in front of the tower building.

Coming from South-East

Coming from south-east, you come either from the direction of Alfeld on the national B3 or from Hildesheim on the highway A7 or national B6. If you are on the highway A7, you can either drive up to the junction 'Hannover Ost' (then see: 'Coming from East') or get off earlier at the junction 'Hannover Süd' onto the national road B6.

  • Take the B6 into the direction of Nienburg.

  • You are on the Messeschnellweg now.

  • Follow the course of the B6 at the junction 'Seelhorster Kreuz'. The B6 branches off here.

  • Follow the signs to the direction of Nienburg.

  • Past the second traffic circle pay attention to the speed limit of 50 km/h - local traffic.

  • Past the third traffic circle there come two more exits. Only when you have passed the exits keep right and turn at the next traffic light onto Bremer Damm.

  • At the next traffic light turn left.

  • You are on Nienburger Straße. Take the direction out of town and drive past Welfenschloß, the main building of the university.

  • Turn right at the next traffic light.

  • Keep driving until you reach a big parking lot in front of the tower building.

Coming from South-West

Coming from south-west (Hameln) you can reach Hanover via one of the national roads. 

  • Drive onto the national road B6 into the direction of Nienburg.

  • Immediately after you have crossed the Leine River you will reach a traffic light. Turn right here onto Bremer Damm.

  • At the next traffic light turn left.

  • You are on Nienburger Straße now. Take the direction out of town and drive past Welfenschloß, the main building of the university.

  • Turn right at the next traffic light.
  • Keep driving until you reach a big parking lot in front of the tower building.

Coming from the West

Coming from the west (Dortmund, Bielefeld, Osnabrück) you come from the highway A2 to Hanover.

  • Take the first exit in Hanover: 'Hannover - Herrenhausen'.

  • Take the national road B6 to the city center.

  • After a long way without any traffic lights you will find another highway exit. Stay on the national road.

  • At the next traffic light keep left and turn onto Bremer Damm.

  • Turn left again at the next traffic light.

  • You are on Nienburger Straße now. Take the direction out of town and drive past Welfenschloss, the main building of the university.

  • At the next traffic light turn right.

  • Keep driving until you reach a big parking lot in front of the tower building.

Coming from North-West

Coming from north-west (Nienburg, Verden,) you come either from the A27 (then see: 'Coming from North') or from the national road B6 to Hanover.

  • Take the national road B6 to the city center.

  • After a long way without any traffic lights you will find another highway exit. Stay on the national road.

  • At the next traffic light keep left and turn onto Bremer Damm.

  • Turn left again at the next traffic light.

  • You are on Nienburger Straße now. Take the direction out of town and drive past Welfenschloß, the main building of the university. 

  • Turn right at the next traffic light.

  • Keep driving unitl you reach a big parking lot in front of the tower builing.
